AuthorGreedo Where to watch:
Amazon Prime; a tank at the front of an occupying force bringing ideals to the infidels Impression: I have a vague recollection of seeing this movie in college while I was abroad in the truck stop known as Western Australia. If you're from Western Australia and you can't appreciate that description, this is not for you. Reaction: You might remember Lori Petty from Point Break as Keanu's love interest, "Tyler!". Remember radical, surf snob, Tyler? "You've got no business out here whatsoever"? Remember, "They call him Bodhisattva"? Still nothing? Okay, maybe you didn't see that one. She's in this movie. It's 2030 or something and the world is a desert. The Department of Water and Power has taken over and they are jerks. Malcolm McDowell is the head jerk and he should be the go-to villain in any movie. If this movie is anything, it's any movie. Favorite Line/Scene: Malcolm McDowell: "And so on!" Other notables: An early (in her career (four years prior to stealing our hearts in Mulholland Dr)) Naomi Watts sighting and a sexy dry, powder shower scene. More fun trivia: the original comic book's illustrator went on to form the cool band, Gorillaz. Conclusion: For teenage boys and the teenage boy at heart and fans of early comic book adaptions. Reminds me of the Mask if every five minutes had a really rapey vibe. I'm barely halfway through the movie and I'm comfortable calling this a review. Arbitrary rating: I rate this movie: two, hot lizard breaths in the scorching, post-apocalyptic heat. Probably just skip it and wait for the inevitable remake nobody asked for.
