AuthorGreedo Where to watch:
Amazon Prime; from inside a cocaine-stuffed coffin Impression: This is early Cage going ham in a cliche vampire movie. Reaction: It matched my expectations. While the plot is fairly boilerplate, Nicholas Cage loses his mind in something that can be considered American Psycho with vampires. At one point, Cage recites the alphabet in a way that will forever be burned upon my memory. Conclusion: There's not much to say about a film like this. You'd have to be a fan of the career arc of Nicholas Cage for me to make this recommendation. It is, however, interesting to note how Cage manages to elevate a fairly pedestrian script. Who are the young actors today with the charisma to scream at secretaries, jump on desks and cackle like a madman? I'm sure the director asked Cage to tone it down and Vampire Kiss is still more memeable than any movie not starring an elder Nick Cage in the last 20 years. What gives? Arbitrary rating: Give me more Cage! 15 out 20!
